World-Hepatitis-Day

Hepatitis

Hepatitis

Causes of Hepatitis

Hepatitis

(Viral Infection)
    Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B,
(Autoimmune Condition)
  3. Alcohol

Prevent Hepatitis

The Bottom Line - Dr. Health

Azoospermia: Understand What It Is and How It Affects Male Fertility.

Azoospermia: Understand What It Is and How It Affects Male Fertility

Azoospermia affects about 1% of men worldwide, and there are about 10%-15% of infertile men who struggle with this condition. Just like Low sperm count, in Azoospermia, there will be no sperm count. Men who struggle with Azoospermia face a lot of stress and embarrassment as they are unable to conceive naturally. Ayurveda is the best way to treat Azoospermia without any side effects or complications.

"Obstructive causes and Hormonal problems of azoospermia are treatable with the help of Ayurveda."

This blog will let you understand what Azoospermia is and how it affects the male population around the world.

What is Azoospermia (Nil\Zero Sperm count)?

Azoospermia is an infertility disorder that occurs in men. This disorder causes a complete decrease or absence of sperm when a man ejaculates. Azoospermia can develop due to various causes such as a blockage along the reproductive tract, Hormonal Problems, Ejaculation problems, or issues with testicular function. There are two types of Azoospermia that are generally observed, Obstructive Azoospermia and Non-obstructive Azoospermia.

What is obstructive Azoospermia?

This type of Azoospermia causes a blockage or missing connections in the epididymis, ejaculatory ducts, vas deferens, or somewhere in the tract of the reproductive organ. In this condition, a man would be producing sperm, but due to blockage or absence of connection, the sperm is unable to exit in an appropriate amount. This type of Azoospermia can occur due to many factors such as Infection, Previous surgeries in the pelvic area, Cyst development, and Vasectomy.

What is Non-Obstructive Azoospermia?

In this type of Azoospermia, man faces infertility problems because of inadequate or nil\zero sperm production due to flaws in the structure or function of the testicles.

The defects can occur due to many factors such as genetic causes- Kallman syndrome, Kleinfelter syndrome, and Y chromosome deletion. Hormonal imbalance, Ejaculation problems, and testicular problems such as anorchia, Sertoli cell syndrome, spermatogenic arrest, Mumps orchitis, tumors, Radiation treatments, and diseases such as diabetes, kidney failure, cirrhosis, and varicocele can also be a factor behind non-obstructive Azoospermia.

Prevention Is Always Better Than Cure.

If Azoospermia is not caused due to genetics, there are many ways through which we can prevent it.

  •  Avoid engaging in activities that can cause injury to the reproductive organ.
  •  Avoid being exposed to radiation.
  •  Avoid medications that can harm sperm production.

Avoid exposing your testicles to hot temperatures for a prolonged period.

Complications faced by Men struggling with Azoospermia.

  • Relationship difficulties occur due to the inability to conceive.
  • Stress and anxiety arise.
  • Men who are struggling with Azoospermia may also have suicidal thoughts.
  • Social and familial embarrassment.
  • Family conflicts can also arise.

Failure to become a father.

Ayurvedic Way Of Treating Azoospermia.

7 Environmental Pollutants that Cause Male Infertility

7 Environmental Pollutants that Cause Male Infertility.

With the extensive progress in technology, our lives have been made easy, but it has made every one of us to rely on the technology, and to do so, we are exhausting all our natural resources and energy, which in turn is leading to the degradation of our environment, a lesser amount of resources for sustaining our life and Health relating problems, like male infertility.

“As we are overusing natural fuels to get the motor started, we have also offered a hand to the air pollution that has raised in our home the mother earth.”

“With an increased use of plastic, the sea, land, even the air has been permanently polluted.”

“Even after experiencing this dooming climatic pollution and health problems, we have now come under impacts of harmful chemicals such as industrial waste, herbicides, food additives, insecticides, and pesticides which we come in contact with daily.”

“Due to this rise in pollution, 70% of our water is getting polluted daily.”

“Fertility problems in men and women have increased drastically by impairing the process of Sertoli cell, sperm function, spermatogenesis, and steroidogenesis.”

Particulate Matter

Particulate Matter

Particulate matter is a combination of liquid and solid particles found in the air. These particles are present in our atmosphere in many sizes and shapes, consisting of hundreds of chemicals. These particles emit directly from a source such as construction sites, fields, smokestacks, fire, and unpaved roads. Most of these particles are a reaction of chemicals such as nitrogen oxides and sulfur dioxide that are emitted from power plants, automobile manufacturers, and industries.

Volatile Organic Compounds

Volatile Organic Compounds

VOC are compounds that you can smell when you open up a nail polish bottle or when you smell gasoline. They are carbon-based compounds that can be present in many items in our home and office buildings. Some examples of VOC are hexane, vinyl chloride, and formaldehyde. Volatile organic compounds are found in paint, Petroleum fuels, dry cleaning agents, and paint thinners. VOCs can cause harm to male fertility by lowering the total sperm count and testosterone levels in the body.

Ozone

Ozone

This type of air pollution is created at the surface of the earth by the combustion of fossil fuels. The ground-level ozone is formed by the reaction of the precursors of fossil fuel and the UV rays emitted by the sun. It is known that ozone particles can cross the blood-gas barrier and enter the bloodstream, causing oxidative stress that disrupts testicular and sperm function. Evidence shows that long-term exposure to ozone has an increased risk of health problems such as premature death, asthma, and heart attack and can also cause low sperm count.

Nitrogen Oxide

This is a colorless toxin that is formed by the oxidation of nitrogen. NO2 is formed when fossil fuels such as coal, gas, diesel, and petroleum are burned at high temperatures. It is one of the main pollutants that causes air pollution. All the motor vehicles such as trucks, cars, buses, power plants, diesel-powered construction equipment, and industrial boilers. Long-term exposure to this pollutant compound can cause fertility problems in men, such as decreased sperm motility and sperm toxicity.

Sulphur Dioxide

 Sulphur Dioxide

Sulphur dioxide is also a colorless gas that has a strong irritating odor. The primary source of this pollution is burning fossil fuels and by smelting mineral ores that hold sulphur. Volcanic eruptions can also be a source of sulphur dioxide pollution in our environment. When sulphur dioxide emission occurs, it combines with the air and water, which creates sulphuric acid, which eventually leads to acid rain. The research found that exposure to sulphur dioxide may cause lower semen quality by affecting the early stage of sperm development. It also stated that SO2 could also reduce sperm count and increase sperm malformation and abnormal testicular pathological changes.

Carbon Monoxide

Carbon Monoxide

This pollutant is formed from the incomplete combustion of carbon-containing fuels such as gasoline, natural gas, and wood. It can also be produced by motor vehicles, power plants, wildfires, and incinerators. Carbon monoxide can enter your body through your skin and while breathing. CO exposure can happen while engaged in welding work, iron and steel foundries, smoking procedures, car repair shops, and service stations where vehicle exhaust gases are present. A study found that exposure to carbon monoxide can cause a reduction in sperm.

Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons

 Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons

PAH are class of chemicals that are naturally formed in coal, crude oil, and gasoline. They form up in our air when fuels such as coal, gas, wood, garbage, and tobacco are burned. You can get exposed to PAH through your skin, breathing, and consuming grilled and charred food items or when eating food that has high PAH particles that have settled from the air. Men who are exposed to PAHs through occupation or air pollution have bulky PAH-DNA adducts in the sperm, Lowered sperm count, Motility, and morphology alterations.

Best Ways and precautions for Air Pollution

1). By using public transport we can reduce the usage of personal cars and motorbikes that can decrease the emissions degrading our Health.

2). Always turn off lights and fans when not in use

 3). Recycle and reuse

4). Increase forest supervision to stop forest fires

5). Use filters in the chimneys of big factories and industries that mass-produce consumer goods.

 6). Do not burst crackers

7). Plant more trees that will help reduce air pollution

8). Always check the levels of air pollution before going out, and if the levels are high, use a mask and do not exercise in such conditions and go for indoor exercise.

9). Use electric bikes or cars that do not emit Health defecting gas.

10). Stay away from factories and industries that produce or emit such pollutants.

Male infertility has been the main factor that causes difficulties in conceiving. There are many factors that cause male infertility, one of which is air pollution, which has been increasing day by day. We have dumped what we do not want. We have taken everything from this earth without even thinking twice. Now is our chance to repent and do good for all of us.

Dr. Health has dedicated its services to the betterment of the male population who are struggling with problems of male fertility such as low sperm count, nil sperm count, varicocele, premature ejaculation, and Erectile dysfunction. With the guidance of Dr.Himanshu Dhawan, many people have found relief from fertility ailments with the help of Ayurvedic medicines and the Ayurvedic way of life.

Help yourself and everyone else to breathe cleaner air. Please do not contribute to the ultimate cruelty going on to our earth and ourselves. Opt for a cleaner source of energy and live longer with your family and the whole world.

World No Tobacco Day 2022: How Cigarette Smoke Can Affect Male Fertility

World No Tobacco Day 2022

So let’s use World No Tobacco Day (May 31, 2022) as a launching pad to a brighter and less smokey future! World No Tobacco Day is dedicated to draw global attention to the tobacco epidemic and the preventable death and disease it causes. Infertility rates in both male & female smokers are about twice the rate of infertility found in the non-smokers.

Smoking & Male Fertility: Just the Facts

Can smoking hurt your sperm? Yes. It can also negatively affect male fertility.

Smoking is injurious to health. The caution you that may have come across ubiquitously in your day-to-day life. But still, it goes unheeded. Cigarette or tobacco smoking not only affect your lungs but also leads to the health of your kidneys, heart, & even sperms. Yeah, it can lead to male and female infertility. In this article, Dr. Himanshu Dhawan, Male Infertility Specialist, Dr. Health, sheds light on the effects of cigarette & tobacco smoking on Male Fertility.

There is no secret that smoking is damaging to our health. Most individuals are aware that it enhances the risk for heart, vascular, & lung diseases, though still, a major chunk doesn’t realize that the toxin contained in cigarettes or tobacco can also affect fertility in both men & women, leading to erectile dysfunction (ED), poor sperm quality, & pregnancy complications as well. Recent data shows that smoking habits might be responsible for fertility struggles in as many as 13% of couples.

For couples struggling with infertility - knowledge is power. To aid these couples to improve their chances of getting pregnant, fertility specialist Dr. Himanshu Dhawan, BAMS, explains how smoking impacts fertility for men.

Smoking Harms Male Fertility

Does Male Smoking Cause Male Infertility?

Cigarettes contain toxins that are often blamed for their bad effect on male health. Men who smoke are exposed to high levels of metals like cadmium & lead that have been linked to decreased fertility. Lead & cadmium levels have been found to significantly affect semen quality resulting in poor sperm concentration, shape, & movement.

However, you must know that smoking doesn’t stand to be the only cause of infertility in men. There can also be other causes of infertility, such as age, low sperm production, or abnormal sperm function.

Can Smoking Affect Sperms?

Smoking does not spare any organs or cells, & hence, it has a negative impact on sperm health due to smoking being unavoidable. Studies have shown a decrease in the quality of semen and a 23% decrease in sperm concentration in men who smoke as compared to a non-smoker. Smoking also impacts sperm motility which makes it difficult to fertilize eggs. And, if the egg is fertilized, the embryo might have fewer chances of survival due to harmful chemicals in the embryo & growing fetus. Smoking in men also enhances the risk of a non-viable pregnancy & hence it puts you at high risk of miscarriages.

Smoking Causes Low Sperm Count
Smoking Causes Several DNA Changes

Does Smoking Lead to DNA Damage in Sperm?

Some recent studies have found that the sperm of smokers has enhanced DNA fragmentation. The DNA-damaged sperm might lead to problems with embryo development, fertilization, embryo implantation, & increased miscarriage rates. Male smokers might also have abnormal hormone levels that can affect fertility.

Dr. Himanshu Dhawan also says, “Male smoking is related to decreased pregnancy rates & possibly increased miscarriage rates. Secondhand smoke can harm female partners’ fertility, as well. When he smokes, it not only decreases his sperm health. It also decreases her fertility.”

How Can Smoking Cause Erectile Dysfunction (ED)?

Smoking cigarettes, cigars, or pipe tobacco on the regular basis can damage your blood vessels, reducing arterial blood flow throughout the body. The key culprit is nicotine, which is an identified vasoconstrictor (a type of chemical which reduces blood flow throughout the body).

It can be extremely damaging to your sexual performance, as erections are reliant on the mix of signaling from your brain and a dependable level of blood supply via the arteries of men's penis. When you feel sexually aroused, your brain sends the signal to nerves in the men’s penis. This triggers the opening of arteries, increasing blood flow to the corpus cavernosum—the spongy tissue of the penis which fills & hardens to form the erection.

Smoking Damages Tissues In The Penis

Reduced blood flow from smoking or other unhealthy habits can make it much more problematic to achieve the erection, leaving you with a weak erection or no physical response at all to sexual arousal. Scientific study shows that the severity of erectile dysfunction in smokers is closely linked to their level of exposure to cigarette or tobacco smoke. It also appears to show that quitting tobacco and cigarette smoking can help reduce & eliminate ED symptoms.

Final Verdict

Add the fact that cigarette and tobacco smoking is linked to sperm damage & other fertility issues into the equation & it is clear that cigarettes are not really compatible with sexual & reproductive health.

With this information... Let’s all join together to motivate dedication BEFORE PLANNING FOR FATHERHOOD & SAY GOODBYE to tobacco smoking anytime soon... So that

5 Dreadful Factors to Blame for Male Infertility – Tips to Overcome it

5 Dreadful Factors to Blame for Male Infertility

Want to become a dad? Here's what you should do to give you & your partner the best chance of parenthood. Did you know -wearing tight pants or maintaining sitting in a single place for long stretches can result in a low sperm count or male infertility? Continue to read this article and embark on all your answers.

In the last two decades, the reproductive health of males has taken a serious beating seeing a bunch of factors, most of which can be credited to the faulty lifestyle. From bike riding to wearing tight pants and, ironically, smoking & drinking alcohol, there are lots of factors.

Says Dr. Himanshu Dhawan (BAMS), "It is a serious problem of modern-day lifestyle today. Male Infertility has increased many folds due to people’s bad habits & poor lifestyles. Any type of addiction is indeed bad for the reproductive health", "But, the problem can always be corrected with the lifestyle improvements and Ayurvedic treatments", he added.

Female fertility is often in the news, & we know that a women’s age & health can affect her ability to become pregnant. We do not see so much discussion on male fertility, but if you are trying to become a dad, you need to be aware of the factors that can temporarily or permanently reduce male fertility. Some factors to pay attention to when you are planning to conceive are –

Beware! Prolonged Sitting Can Heat Up The Testicles

Sitting, whether it is for work, for long driving trips, or just to watch television, can also trap heat around the testicles, and that is not beneficial for male fertility. Take breaks to stand and walk around. Prolonged sitting in your workplace can also overheat your testicles. Thus, if you sit at a desk all day, it's possible that the quality of your sperm might be affected.
Remaining sedentary might be particularly challenging if you drive for a living. One study that is looking at taxi drivers suggests that car vibrations might contribute to fertility issues.

Laptops Can Burn You More Than A Slap

Considering laptops can get hot enough to burn the legs, guys may want to keep them away from the crown jewels, as well. There’s evidence that, just like in hot tubs & saunas, the heat from a laptop can raise the scrotal temperature that, again, might interfere with sperm production.
Sitting with the laptop on your lap, even if it is on the padded tray, can also significantly increase the temperature of your testicles. If possible, use the laptop on the table instead. The battery of laptops can produce quite a bit of heat. While not all the experts agree that laptops can cause male infertility, Dr. Himanshu Dhawan (BAMS) says – “if you are trying to conceive, you might have to keep the laptop on a table or desk instead of on your lap just to be safe.”

Be Careful! Tight Trousers Or Pants Can Damage Testicles

“I have seen numerous cases of men who have twisted their testicles due to wearing tight trousers or pants,” said Dr. Himanshu Dhawan (BAMS). When you wear tight pants, jeans, or briefs, you are putting your scrotum in cozy quarters, which can trap heat in the testicles, & this is particularly true during hot summer months when you might already be overheated. "Testicles hang in men’s scrotum need to keep cool – they need to be 2.2 degrees centigrade cooler than the core body temperature," says Dr. Himanshu Dhawan (BAMS), men's health expert at Dr. Health." If men wear tight pants or underwear or trousers, their testicles become too, due to which both testosterone & sperm production decrease – a common reason for male infertility. You can wear boxers or loose pants, which are made from natural fiber – cotton.

Yeah! 3 Pegs of Alcohol Can Turn You Infertile

It's not just the ladies who need to check their alcohol consumption if they are planning for a baby anytime soon. Even the males need to be careful about their booze doze. The fact is that alcohol causes infertility in males.
If you are an alcoholic person & you are consuming 60ml plus of any alcoholic drink in one day, there are fair chances that you can turn infertile. Drinking alcohol lowers testosterone levels, causes erectile dysfunction, & decreases sperm production. Moreover, liver diseases that are caused by excessive drinking also might lead to fertility problems in men

Smoking, A Hazard To Your Sperm Count

So, if you are too much into Smoking tobacco or Marijuana, it is directly going to affect your fertility. Smoking lowers the sperm count. Second-hand smoke might affect the fertility of males. Male smokers can suffer decreased sperm quality with lower mobility which boots the numbers of abnormally shaped sperm. Moreover, if you are a chain smoker, it might also decrease the sperm's ability to fertilize eggs.
High alcohol consumption and heavy smoking can cause lower testosterone levels & alter sexual function. Smoking can also adversely affect male fertility, as it might lower sperm count & make it challenging for the little fellows to make their way to a fallopian tube & fertilize an egg.

A Word From Dr. Health

It’s never too late to improve your sperm health. Thus, if you are trying to conceive, staying away from all such habits can make a significant difference. Good health comes from a strict fitness attitude. A fit attitude of males means a robust & well-maintained male reproductive system that avoids heat stress on their testicles. Many men who are diagnosed with male factor infertility face an emotionally complex journey. A fit body, a good lifestyle, and living with an Ayurvedic approach always yield fertility in men. A couple facing male infertility needs to communicate about what is happening to them.

If you want an expert consultation to see improvements in sperm quality, you can come down to our Male Infertility Treatment at Dr. Health to increase your chances of reproductive success.

Male Infertility in the 20s: पुरुषों में 20-30 साल के बीच बांझपन होने के मुख्य कारण और सुझाव

MALE INFERTILITY

Male Infertility in the 20s:

| What Are The Causes Of Infertility In Men?

CAUSES OF MALE INFERTILITY

Dealing with Male Infertility in Your 20s

MALE INFERTILITY

Beat Premature Ejaculation with these Exercises

Premature ejaculation is a common male sexual disorder that affects approximately 4-39% of men of all age groups. The National Institute of health and care has found that premature ejaculation affects nearly 20-30% of men globally.

Premature ejaculation, also called as early ejaculation, is a sexual disorder that occurs in men. Pre-Mature Ejaculation can be defined as an early discharge of semen when indulged in sexual activity caused by minimum penile stimulation, whereas typical men's ejaculatory latency is approximately 4-8 minutes.

"It is said that men who struggle with this disorder have less control over their ejaculation, and many men have reported that they wished they lasted longer in bed."

Men struggling with premature ejaculation often report emotional and relationship distress, and some men feel embarrassed and do not indulge in a sexual relationship. Women consider premature ejaculation less of a problem, but studies have shown that the condition also causes stress to female partners.

How to cure Early Ejaculation?

Men avoid talking about their sexual problems which then worsens in time and causes permanent ailments which is why men themselves attempt to treat premature ejaculation by various means such as by distracting themselves and trying to focus their attention away from sexual impulses, medications that help to slow down ejaculation, and by going for surgeries such as Selective Dorsal Neurectomy(SDN)and Glans penis augmentation.

Some of the above treatments are effective, and some might even give bad side effects for the lifetime; that is why it is suggested to go for Ayurvedic treatment for Premature Ejaculation at Dr. Health that uses sexual therapies to correct the condition from its root and allow to have a stress free life.

Ayurvedic Sexual Therapy

Ayurvedic therapy concentrates on treating the root cause of the disease which uses natural ways, medicines that does not cause any side effects.

For premature ejaculation Ayurveda suggests going for right exercises for a quick recovery.
Recommended exercises to perform are Kegel Exercise, Cat and camel Exercise, and Butterfly exercise.

These exercises help to strengthen the muscles in the pelvic region that is in charge of urinary control (starting and stopping the flow of urine) and also help to build control over pubococcygeus muscles that are responsible for triggering orgasm and ejaculation.

Kegel Exercise (Pelvic Floor Exercise)

To perform this exercise, start by lying on your back, bring up your keens, your hands on the sides of your hips, and keep your head down. Now push your stomach upwards; you will feel a stretch in your pelvic area; while doing so, inhale. Lastly, release yourself from this posture and bring back your belly to the normal position. While doing so, try to get the feel of contracting the pelvic floor muscles (Pretend as if you are trying to avoid passing gas). Once you have identified the right muscles, you can perform the exercise while sitting and standing.

Cat and Camel Exercise

To perform this exercise, get down on your hands and your knees, keep your knees apart according to the space of your hips and your hands directly below your shoulders. Tighten your abdominal muscles and arch your spine upwards towards the ceiling. Hold the position for 10 seconds, then slowly relax your back. Next, allow the stomach to fall downwards to the floor and bring your hands together and stretch your back downwards in a swayback position. Hold the position for 10 seconds and repeat this sequence at least three times or more.

Butterfly exercise (Bhadrasana)

To perform this exercise, sit straight with an erect spine and spread the legs straight out. Now flex both the knees and bring them near to the pelvic region; the soles of the feet should be touching each other. To obtain this posture, use your hands to pull the feet as close to your groin area. Next, take a deep breath and press the thighs and knees towards to floor. Keep gently pushing the knees downwards. After this posture is attained, start flapping the bended knees up and down like a butterfly's wings. You will sense a stretch in the inner thighs and the groin area. Take a deep breath and bring the torso up. As you exhale gently, release the posture, straighten the legs, and relax.

Male Fertility Is An Important Factor. Don’t Ignore It!

Generally, we think of infertility as being mostly or exclusively a female problem, but did you know that male and female infertility are equally prevalent? Now, it's time to talk about the men. We recount some surprising secrets about male fertility and male reproductive health.
Dad's health is just as important as mum's for healthy babies. Among couples struggling with infertility, complications specific to the man's health are the sole cause or the contributing cause about 40% of the time, says Dr. Himanshu Dhawan (BAMS).
'The major issues we see in most of the men are related to their reduced sperm count, motility—the capacity for sperm to propel towards the egg – and reducing numbers of normally shaped sperm.'
Problems with sperms might also indicate underlying health concerns like high blood pressure, skin disorders, heart issues, vascular problems, & endocrine (gland) disorders.

Unknown Facts About Male Infertility You Must Know

There are 'n' numbers of problems that males are resilient to tell & show. Male infertility is one of the major issues which can dig deep into any man's confidence. But, the conditions can be improved & treated. People believe different things about male infertility, which has nothing to do with all such conditions. You might know about different myths, which revolve around male infertility problems, but in this article, we will explain some interesting facts that you might not be aware of till now. These facts have been verified by proficient Ayurvedic doctor Himanshu Dhawan (BAMS), who specializes in male fertility cases.

Did You Know???

  • Men are not Becoming Fathers, it's on the Rise.

There have been improved cases that show that men are unable to become fathers & this is becoming more common. There are around 7% of men in India face infertility issues & are not able to become fathers. It is a growing problem and mainly for those over the age of 35 years. The exact cause of it is not known, but their sperm rate decreases by almost 52%, which is a lot. It keeps on declining every year & hence it can cause numerous problems.

  • Men too have a Biological Clock (Effects of Aging).

It means just as women have a specific time in which the chances are high of becoming pregnant, the same is the case with men, too. The  rate for men decreases after the age of 40 years & then it becomes difficult for men to become fathers. Even if their partner becomes pregnant, the tendency of miscarriage rises. Thus, there is a particular time under which you should try for parenthood to prevent all such problems.
Having a child after the age of 40 years or while having some kind of infertility issues can even impact your child & result in autism, schizophrenia, & cancer in childhood. Therefore, it is advised to consult your doctor & plan your pregnancy.

  • Food Choices are Linked to Sperm Count in Men.

The food choices you eat & the number of meals you take in a day also affect your chances of male infertility & sperm count. Individuals who consume processed meat practically every day have lower sperm counts than those who don't. Doctors also recommend avoiding excessive sugar, fats, red meat, & soya from your diet to enhance your sperm count & help in overall health. For reducing the chances of male infertility, you should eat more fruits rich in antioxidants.

  • Smoking & Drinking can Lessen Fertility in Men – Skip your Happy Hours.

Not only do tobacco smokers incline to have lower sperm counts, but secondhand smokers also can experience the same problem. A report by World Health Organization shows, "if your partner is experiencing in vitro fertilization with your sperm, & you are a smoker, you face 44% reduction in your pregnancy rate." Excessive alcohol use, meanwhile, can lower the testosterone level, making it harder to get an erection, & is linked to liver diseases, also tied to fertility issues. Other substances which can impair male fertility include marijuana, cocaine, & heroin.

  • Duration of your Sleep can also Affect the Fertility Rate.

In several conditions, the rate of male fertility gets affected by the sleep duration a body gets. This is related to the amount of rest & volume of sperm produced. It is stated that those men who sleep for more than nine hours a day have more reduction in sperm count as compared to the men who sleep for seven hours a day. The ideal duration of sleep defined for young men is around 7 hours to 7.5 hours, which causes a minimal reduction in male sperm count.

Can Diabetes Cause Male Infertility (Oligospermia)?
You bet. Diabetes can damage blood vessels & nerves, and increase the risk of infection, especially when not well controlled. As a result, diabetes is associated with an array of sexual problems, including erectile dysfunction, ejaculation problems, decreased sex drive (libido), and inflammation of the foreskin (balanitis).

Diabetes can cause male infertility in three ways –
Causes erectile dysfunction – by affecting the health of small blood vessels & lowering testosterone levels
Lowers the sex drive – by lowering testosterone levels
Reduces ejaculate volume – by affecting small nerves which control ejaculation & by lowering testosterone levels
Indeed, if the patient had all three issues at the same time, along with the lower testosterone level. Fortunately, all these symptoms are fairly easy to correct with herbal medications, diet plans, and lifestyle changes.

Ayurvedic Varicocele Treatment

Varicocele is like having vascular veins in scrotum or the testes. Vascular veins is a condition where the blood carrying tubes inside a particular body part swell up and stick tight to the inner skin. It is commonly seen in legs but similar condition can be observed in the scrotum (lies inside the testes). The scrotum is the shielding sac around your testes and is responsible for maintaining its shape.

Having this condition in your scrotum may feel like a bag of worms as the size of your testes gets enlarged. This affects a type of vein termed as pampiniform plexus, which is situated in the spermatic cord. This chord holds vas deferens, the tube that carries sperm, and the testicular artery, which transports blood to the testicles.

It is a common condition as approximately 15 – 20% of men experience this at least once in their lifetime. In most cases, varicocele is painless and might feel negligible to notice but can sometimes cause an aching sensation around your testes. For some severe cases, varicocele can cause fertility issues and might reduce sperm quality in the long run. Varicocele can happen at almost any age but is most common in teens for the hormonal imbalance in blood flow during puberty. Varicocele typically affects only one side of the testicles, and usually, it’s the left side.

Signs/ symptoms of having varicocele

If you have following signs of varicocele, you should be considering availing a medical consultancy or making the best use of ayurvedic and home remedies:

  • Formation of lump inside the scrotum or the testicle
  • Swelling in testes
  • Enlargement of the veins of the scrotum
  • Testes size getting shrunk
  • Discomfort in standing for long periods of time

Treating Varicocele by Ayurveda

While the surgical methods pose the possibility of some serious side effects inside the scrotal sac, Ayurveda on the other hand provides similar properties of treatment with no side-effects at all.

Following are some possible side effects of having surgery to treat varicocele:

    • Hydrocele – It refers to the condition wherein the accumulation of fluid around the scrotal sac can be observed. It can double up the tissue inflammation.
    • Abnormal body vitals – Abnormal health disorders like feeling nausea, high fever, and aching pain in abdominal/ pelvic region.
    • Urinals complications – Difficulty in urinating and inability to empty the bladder in one go are common problems post-surgery.
  • Scrotal swelling and infections – Prolonged infections inside the scrotal sac can be observed if there are some errors in surgical methods opted

Having understood with the life-threatening side-effects of surgical methods opted to treat varicocele; it becomes quite evident to utilize the Ayurveda-backed treatments. Ayurveda promotes naturally driven medications and helps in providing immediate relief from the aching pain in scrotum. The medicated oils and other forms of medications used work with the Vayu Dosh (surrounding elements) in your body. This helps in reducing the symptoms and stopping the varicocele from getting bigger.

Dietary Recommendations

Since the intake of herbal medications plays a major role in treating varicocele; it becomes equally important to have a balanced digestive system. To incorporate the same, the inclusion of easily digestible and nutritious foods is necessary. Whole-grain foods, fish oil, olive oil, fresh fruits, and vegetables are recommended additions. The dietary schedule or the time between the meals should be equal and fixed on a daily basis. This will improve the digestive system and make it easier for herbal medications to reach all fundamental body parts. Lubricants like fast food and excess alcohol should be avoided. Also, excess salty and sourness in foods should be avoided too.

Following can be key takeaways for dietary recommendations:

    • Whole grains – The consumption of whole grain foods will lighten the abdomen muscles and prevent constipation.
    • Leafy Greens – These are rich source of rare minerals, iron and potassium that will help to enhance muscle strength and overall stamina
    • Dairy Products – To ensure increased bone and muscle strength, the consumption of dairy products is immensely important.
  • Animal proteins – These are quickest source of protein and provide high quality amino acids in least possible calories.
  • Fresh fruits – Vitamin rich fruits, especially oranges are especially recommended. They promote tissue regeneration.

Conclusion

Varicocele is a common condition that can affect men of different ages and stages in lifestyle. As per several studies conducted, it is reported that approximately 1 out of every 5 men suffer from varicocele at least once in their lifetime. It is caused due to the accumulation of excess blood in veins inside the scrotum. Such a condition is most commonly seen in teenage due to the hormonal imbalance in the puberty phase. Having enlarged testes, irregular scrotum shape, and lower counts of sperm production are some common signs observed in case of varicocele. Ayurveda offers life saving techniques which have zero side effects, unlike the complexities involved in surgeries. The inclusion of purification techniques like Raktamkokshana (bloodletting) and Virechana (Purgation) are a great means of treating varicocele. These techniques help in removing all unnecessary toxins and reduce the symptoms of varicocele. Having balanced and equally timed daily meals will help in forming an active base for digesting herbal medications. Whole grain foods, dairy products, animal protein, leafy greens, and fresh fruits are some recommended add-ons in daily diet.
